Financial Accountant

As a Financial Accountant you would be responsible for the financial accounting and day-to-day management of balance sheet accounts, preparation of VAT and tax returns and preparation of statutory accounts Client Details An organisation based in central Birmingham Description Responsible for financial accounting to provide control and review of balance sheet, including processing journals and preparing balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare and submit internal and external periodic financial reporting as required by stakeholders maintaining a close reporting relationship with these stakeholders. Responsible for supporting in the preparation of the statutory accounts including liaison with external auditors to resolve queries Responsible for preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring technical compliance with Group accounting policies and accounting standards. Provide SLT and other financial teams financial information and variance analysis on balance sheet, cash flow and debtor movements including suggesting improvement ideas for the periodic management accounts submitted to Board and demonstrating appropriate levels of automation to make reporting processes more efficient. Production of technical papers in support of year end statutory accounts. Preparation of periodic VAT returns and management of the relationship with HMRC. Supports preparation of Corporation and Deferred Tax calculations on a periodic basis. Provide ad hoc support and analysis to the Financial Controller as required, Profile A successful Financial Accountant should have: Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) Excellent technical knowledge of IFRS for year end reporting purposes, as well as day-to-day balance sheet accounting Experience and knowledge of VAT and Tax Previous experience of process improvement and controls Excellent communication skills including strong written and verbal are critical as the role requires frequent contact with all levels within the organisation and with Group. Ability to interpret financial data for non-financial staff is also important Experience of developing financial modelling tools is essential Job Offer £65,000 plus benefits 12 month FTC
