Design Manager - Infrastructure & Engineering Birmingham (B37) 3 Days Per Week On Site £400 per day (Inside IR35) 3-6 Month Contract Our client, a leading infrastructure and engineering organisation, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to support the delivery of major engineering and infrastructure projects from their Birmingham (B37) location. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for managing design activities from inception through to delivery, ensuring projects are coordinated, compliant and delivered in line with programme requirements. Responsibilities Own and manage the design programme across project activities. Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants. Lead design reviews and technical coordination meetings. Ensure design deliverables meet project and client requirements. Manage design assurance processes and technical approvals. Coordinate interfaces between design, commercial, planning and delivery teams. Manage design risks and support safe-by-design initiatives. Monitor design progress and resolve issues proactively. Support change control and design governance activities. Manage technical queries, document control and design communications. Interface with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. Promote innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. Requirements Minimum 8 years' experience within Design Management or a similar position. Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering or infrastructure projects. Strong programme management and coordination skills. Experience leading stakeholders across design and delivery functions. Commercial awareness and understanding of project controls. Knowledge of design assurance and compliance requirements. Ability to operate effectively within fast-paced project environments. Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or similar preferred. Experience working within highly regulated sectors would be beneficial.
