Health & Safety Advisor

Opus People Solutions are hiring for a Senior Health & Safety Advisor within a Local Authority client based in Coventry. The role is 37 hours per week, offering hybrid working (1-2 days on-site plus 1 office day per week for team meetings), and £20.29 per hour with an initial contract length of 3 months+. Please see a high-level overview of what the position involves below: Providing professional health and safety advice and guidance across a large and diverse Local Authority. * Supporting managers with risk assessments, audits, inspections and accident investigations. * Reviewing and developing health and safety policies, procedures and management systems. * Delivering health and safety training, information and guidance to managers and employees. * Monitoring compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practice. * Supporting contractor management, CDM compliance and corporate health and safety initiatives. * Producing reports, analysing incident trends and recommending preventative actions. * Working closely with senior managers, Trade Unions, external agencies and enforcement bodies where required. The ideal candidate will have experience with: NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (essential). * IOSH Membership (CMIOSH, GradIOSH or working towards Chartered status). * Health and safety auditing, inspections, investigations and risk assessments. * Interpreting and applying health and safety legislation within complex organisations. * Developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures. * Delivering health and safety training and guidance to a range of stakeholders. * CDM Regulations, contractor management and compliance monitoring. * Previous experience within Local Government.
